Authorities said they are still trying to figure out what happened and wouldn't comment on whether the incident could be related to a gas leak or explosive devices.

One woman was killed and three others were injured during the Tuesday afternoon explosion at a medical office building in Aliso Viejo. The FBI said there was no initial indication of terrorism, but the agency would continue to investigate out of caution.

Chief Fennesy noted the building where the explosion occurred was being renovated. They had not released her name as of late Tuesday night.

However, he says no explosive device has been found in the building and investigators still aren't saying whether the explosion was accidental or intentional.

"As far as what I'm hearing there was no auto involved", Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

The explosion, in a normally tranquil South Orange County city, prompted the evacuation of nearby businesses and a school filled with children, officials said.

The fire at the building at 11 Mareblu was quickly doused following the roughly 1:10 p.m. explosion. The other woman was burned and her head was bleeding. The nature of their injuries were not immediately known.

Federal, state and local authorities, including the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, are investigating the blast, which occurred on the first floor of a building that was under renovation.

One woman, who had skin peeling on her arm from burns, said, "Take care of my mother", McWilliams said. Crews on scene of possible explosion in Aliso ViejoOne person was pronounced dead at the scene, and three others were injured, OCFA said.

"We have confirmed there was no vehicle inside", Bommarito said, adding there was an explosion inside the building.
