Pack of wiener dogs mauls woman to death

Tracy Garcia, 52, was near her Ardmore home on May 7 when a pack of seven dogs attacked her, KXII-TV reports.

One of the dogs was shot and killed by police at the scene when it charged at an officer.

A report that one of the pit bulls was inaccurate, according to Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant.

The dogs were either daschund-terrier or daschund-border collie mixes.

"If there was any possible issue of them biting someone else then it would've been (done) but the dogs are deceased as well as the victim so there's just no reason to go spend the thousands and thousands of dollars", Dinwiddle said.

All of the dogs were infested with fleas and ticks, but did not have other visible health problems.

Amanda Dinwiddie a euthanasia technician at Ardmore Animal Shelter said the'predominant breed in the dogs was'standard dachshund

"A predominant breed in these dogs is definitely standard dachshund", Dinwiddie told the local station.

She later died from her injuries.

Dinwiddie claimed the dogs-three females and four males-ranged in age from a year to about three years. "This is just a bad deal all the way around".

Six of the dogs were about a year old, with the other possibly being the mother of the group, according to The Daily Ardmoreite in Oklahoma. "Unfortunately ... we had to shoot one dog", Bryant says, per KFOR, adding they opened fire on it "to protect our deputies, as well as the medical personnel".

It is unclear at this time what led to the attack, and it is still under investigation. Bryant also said the district attorney's office will review the case next week to decide if charges will be filed.
