Apple Announces ARKit 2, Measure App, USDZ File Format

Though only in an early beta now, the Mac's new Dark Mode is already more consistently applied across the system, compared to Windows. The most notable update is the inclusion of a dark mode that darkens the interface of the Mac within apps like Mail, Photos, Pages, and more.

2018, Apple announced a new version of the macOS operating system -version 10.14, codenamed Mojave. Users will fins Google News, Voice Memos and Home on their Macs come fall. If you're looking at a new image in a web browser, you can drag that image out onto the desktop to save it, and it will automatically move into the right Stack. With the click of a button macOS users will be able to group and arrange icons on a messy desktop based on their file types, such as images, documents, spreadsheets, PDFs, and more. There's also a revamped Finder with additional enhancements such as a Galleries view to help users find what they need quickly.

Also, it seems Apple's new USDZ file format, created in collaboration with Pixar, could be the other push AR has been waiting for given that it makes content created using ARkit much more easier to port and work on.

As noted in the keynote, Quick Look will also integrate markup in Mojave, so users can more readily jump into markup to add an e-signature to a PDF, rotate and crop and image, and even cut video.

Apple's macOS and iOS might not be making their long-rumored merger, but the lines between the two operating systems will soon be blurrier than ever.

The new app automatically provides the dimensions of objects like picture frames, posters and signs, and can also show diagonal measurements, compute area and allow users to take a photo and share it with accurate dimensions right from their iPhone or iPad.

What new features can I expect with this update?

At the World Wide Developers Conference, Apple introduced a slew of new software versions of its platforms.

Apple has confirmed that the developer preview of macOS Mojave is now available to Apple Developer Program members at developer.apple.com.

Quick Look, the action that lets users preview photos and documents by hitting the space bar, is getting some updates too. Some new apps on the store include Office 365, Lightroom CC, and BBEdit. However, Apple did make some small steps toward this goal by adding four of its own iOS apps - News, Stocks, Voice Memos and Stock - to the Mac for the first time. The redesign is similar to the changes to the iOS 11 App Store, highlighted by new editorial content for app discovery. New and updated apps are highlighted in the Discover tab, while tabs for Create, Work, Play, and Develop aid in locating certain apps for a specific goal.

Nope! Apple isn't a company that charges for its software upgrades anymore. The first is Apple News, a centralized reader for all the user's most favorite publications and news sources.
