Kate Spade Suffered Depression And Anxiety For Years, Says Husband

The talk show host got emotional during the installment, as the panel discussed the fashion icon being found dead at her NY apartment Tuesday morning.

A day after designer Kate Spade was found dead in her Park Avenue apartment, her husband and Kate Spade New York co-founder, Andy Spade, has released a statement to The New York Times.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Spade was depressed in the last days of her life because her husband wanted a divorce, and she didn't want to end the marriage.

USA media reports claim Spade and husband Andy had split in the months leading up to her death, while TMZ claim he had moved out of the family home.

"There was no indication and no warning that she would do this", he said.

He said her death was a "complete shock". She also said that she "tried numerous times to get her help". "We were not legally separated, and never even discussed divorce".

The 55-year-old then emphasized that he and Spade did their best to work on their problems and stayed pretty much in love with each other for years. "We were together for 35 years", he said.

After the eruption, people say they had to build an impromptu bridge over hot ashes to try and get the injured the help they need. An Associated Press journalist witnessed five stretchers carrying bags containing human remains being carried out of Los Lotes.

Kate Spade had no alcohol, business or substance abuse problems, he said. Prior to her death, the handbag designer had been dealing with her condition by taking medication and by seeing a private doctor.

A New York Police Department source told the New York Post that Spade left behind a note. They sold the company in 2007, so that Kate could be closer to her daughter with Andy, who is now 13.

Ms Saffo said her sister became fixated on the suicide of Robin Williams after watching reports of his death on TV. "There were personal demons she was battling", Andy Spade said, apparently in response to comments made by Kate Spade's sister that the designer's suspected suicide was "not unexpected".

More information about Kate Spade's life before her passing has been revealed.

"Although Kate has not been affiliated with the brand for more than a decade, she and her husband and creative partner, Andy, were the founders of our beloved brand", it said. My daughter and I are devastated by her loss, and can't even begin to fathom life without her.

"Bea - I have always loved you". Andy said he had not seen the note.
