Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero II is going ahead after all

UFC 225 pay-per-view event is slated to go down on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion's streaming service, UFC Fight Pass at 6 p.m. ET. Romero was the last fighter to weigh-in Friday, and originally came in one pound over the championship fight limit of 185 pounds. The clinch was broken up with about 40 seconds left in the fight. But the fight, however, is still on and will be a five-rounder. He has missed weight for his last two bouts. Two judges scored the contest 48-47 for Whittaker, while a third had it 48-47 for Romero. Romero shoved Whittaker to the ground and landed elbows.

Whittaker was named the official middleweight champion after Canadian fighter Georges St-Pierre vacated the title after his win over English fighter Michael Bisping in November previous year at UFC 217. Now, he's back in the octagon against Romero, looking to cement his place atop the middleweight ranks.

Romero continued to walk forward, and a leaping left hand landed clean and sent Whittaker crashing to the floor.

An interim welterweight title fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington will co-headline UFC 225.
