Video shows woman releasing two grandchildren from DOG KENNELS

Police said a woman has been arrested after a video shared online showed two children getting out of pet kennels inside the trunk of an SUV in Memphis on Saturday evening.

She was reportedly charged with two counts of child endangerment.

Neighbors said Cheeks just bought two German Shepherd puppies that she would put in the kennels in the back of her truck.

The children, ages 7 and 8, told police that they were placed in the cages because there wasn't enough room inside the vehicle, according to a charging affidavit obtained by ABC affiliate WATN.

A Memphis grandmother is out on bond, accused of putting her two grandkids in dog kennels and driving them across Memphis. And indeed, it was around 95 degrees on the day that the children were seen in the pet kennels.

The news station wrote that the two children told police they were hot in the kennels as there were no vents in the back of the auto, and temperatures soared to over 30 degrees celsius (86F). "I couldn't see her actually doing that", said neighbor Skylarr Blake. She's such a nice lady.

According to Local Memphis, Nikita Blake, another of Cheeks' neighbours, added: "It's very sad".

A concerned citizen shot the video and forwarded it to the police.

"I think she needs some help".

"You looking at that video, you see she opened up the cage let the kids out the cage out the trunk of the auto, I mean it don't look good", Blake said.

The woman is being held at the Shelby County Jail. She is set to appear in court on Monday, the station reported.
