Rose McGowan Indicted On Felony Count Of Cocaine Possession

On Tuesday, her trial in Loudoun County Circuit Court was set for January 15.

Rose McGowan was indicted for cocaine possession by a grand jury on Monday and sis could face up to 10 years in prison. Her trial date will be set Tuesday at the Loudon County courthouse in Virginia.

'These charges would have never been brought if it weren't for her activism as a voice for women everywhere.

Activist McGowan has maintained the cocaine is not hers, and suggested in court papers that the drugs were planted at the behest of Weinstein.

The former Charmed star was slapped with felony possession of a controlled substance past year after authorities reportedly found two packets of cocaine in a wallet she left behind on a flight to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia in January 2017.

Defense attorney Jessica Carmichael argued, however, that there was not enough evidence to prove McGowan's guilt, pointing to inconsistencies among witnesses as well as the hours that passed between the flight's landing and the wallet's discovery.

Weinstein has denied these allegations, but handed himself over to police last month to be charged with rape and sexual assault against two women. McGowan said she filed a lost luggage claim and tweeted United Airlines for help when she realized her wallet was missing, according to The New Yorker's report.

McGowan told Farrow she has used drugs in the past, but said marijuana was her "jam".

On October 30, McGowan first publicly responded to the existence of the warrant on Twitter.
