Watch Painfully Shy 13-Year-Old Singer Slay On ‘America’s Got Talent’

Courtney Hadwin took the stage on Tuesday's "America's Got Talent" as a bashful 13-year-old barely able to address the panelists.

"Bloody hell, Courtney", AGT judge Simon Cowell said after the performance.

Courtney's Golden Buzzer means she will now proceed straight to the live shows of America's Got Talent - with a $1m prize and the chance to headline a show in Vegas on offer for the series victor.

In the audition, Courtney initially comes on stage and awkwardly answers judge Mel B's questions. It was the first time Janis Joplin got signed and that changed her life - do you know that story?

When "Hard to Handle" blared from the speakers, she began thrashing around the stage while belting out the song in her rich and soulful voice.

"You are not from this era; you are from a whole different era", Howie Mandel told her.

A confused Howie Mandel noted simply, "You're not wearing any underwear". Even the judges were exclaiming as she belted out the tune.

The teenager is no stranger to talent competitions, having narrowly missed out on the top prize on The Voice Kids UK past year.

She said: "I have watched the show on YouTube in the past and it is where all of my idols are from. The only thing I can do for you young lady is give you", Mandel explained before hitting the Golden Buzzer.

Each judge gets to press the golden buzzer only once per series for acts they think deserve to go straight to the quarter finals, bypassing the next rounds of auditions.

Courtney, who made it to the finals of ITV show The Voice Kids in the United Kingdom past year, said she had wanted to appear on America's Got Talent as it was one of the biggest shows in the world.

On Tuesday's episode of the show, young Courtney appeared on stage looking timid and shy as she introduced herself.
