House GOP immigration bill would end family separation at border

President Trump speaks to reporters on the North Lawn of the White House on Friday.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va. sponsors one of the bills, which has drawn fire from immigrant rights activists, HuffPost reported. The young Dreamers, who have been living in the United States illegally since childhood, could apply for legal status for six years.

In a further confusing note, Trump added, "I need a bill that gives this country tremendous border security".

"This I do think ought to be addressed, we believe it should be addressed in immigration legislation", Ryan said. Ryan put down a rebellion in his own caucus and headed off a clean DACA authorization that nearly succeeded in coming to the floor via a discharge petition, promising to allow both groups to craft their own bills for floor votes.

Ryan told reporters Thursday that he wants the issue to be included in immigration legislation but stopped short of committing that it would be included in a pair of bills scheduled for a vote next week.

Trump's opposition may come as surprise to House Republican leadership, who have said they have the president's support. yan, who earlier this weeksaid he was working "hand in glove" with the administration, has said he will allow votes next week on two immigration measures: the compromise plan and a hardline bill backed by a bloc of conservatives.

North Korea sanctions remain until complete denuclearisation, says US
He later added: "We're well on our way to getting denuclearization, and the agreement says there will be total denuclearization". Those who positively viewed the Kim-Trump summit said sitting down face-to-face itself was the best outcome of the summit.

With that, any immigration compromise House Republicans had planned to vote on becomes nearly instantly moot. "Like zero. OK? It's insane", the President said.

"I hate to see the separation of parents and children", he said.

Though the parties reached a compromise to move forward, they have never promised the bill will have enough votes to pass, and both conservative and moderate members who helped craft the bill said Thursday they were already seeking changes to it before they could pledge support.

Pelosi also called separating children from their parents at the border "barbaric" and "immoral" and argued that it could be changed by executive action in a minute.

It is expected to authorize the full $25 billion President Donald Trump has requested to build a wall along the Southern border.
