Walmart boycott: Calls mount over 'Impeach Trump' items

Walmart has found itself on the receiving end of a torrent of outrage after it was discovered Monday that the superstore was selling anti-Trump "Impeach 45" apparel on its website. Walmart sells the t-shirts, but it doesn't manufacture them.

What those users didn't realize was that Walmart is also selling a variety of pro-Trump hats and shirts.

CBS News reports one person pointed out the company also sold clothing from various vendors for people who opposed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Trump's opponent in the 2016 presidential election, as well as for people who oppose former president Barack Obama.

Fortune credits Ryan Fournier, chairman of Students for Trump, with the discovery of the t-shirts for sale and the call for a boycott that followed.

Walmart did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"These items were sold by third-party sellers on our open marketplace and were not offered directly by Walmart", a company spokesperson told Yahoo Lifestyle.

The Washington Times reached out to Walmart Tuesday afternoon asking if the products were pulled in response to the social media pressure.

Walmart has been targeted before by angry shoppers after controversial items have appeared on the platform. "Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required", after facing massive backlash. Fournier wrote in a tweet directed at Walmart.

Walmart, not long ago, was in trouble with liberals as well for a shirt it soldthat read "Rope".
