Stormy Daniels arrested at OH strip club in ‘setup’: lawyer

Daniels, an adult film actress, was reportedly headlining a performance at the Sirens Gentlemen's Club.

Ten TV in Columbus says, according to an arrest report, Daniels was performing at Sirens Adult Entertainment Club around 11:30 p.m. when officers say they saw Daniels use her bare breasts to smack patrons.

Avenatti tells NBC News his understanding is that there were several undercover vice officers in the club.

"We are highly confident that in the unlikely event that the district attorney proceeds with charges that she will be found not guilty", Avenatti said.

The lawyer for the porn star who is embroiled in a legal battle with President Trump claims her arrest was a "politically motivated sting".

While it's unclear what charges, if any, Daniels may face following her arrest, it may relate to a 2007 state law called the Community Defense Act that prohibits dancers from touching customers and vice versa - excluding immediate family members.

Avenatti told Newsweek he had no comment to add beyond his tweets.

Tit-for-tat tariffs will 'destroy' trade relations with USA , says China
Trade Representative's office to identify US$ 200 billion of Chinese goods that could be hit with 10 percent tariffs. But Trump hasn't backed down, arguing that China's unfair trading practices are hurting American workers.

A Columbus police spokeswoman did not immediately respond to requests for confirmation of the arrest.

"It reeks of desperation", Avenatti tweeted.

Documents posted on the Franklin County Municipal Court website show Ms Daniels has posted $6,054 (£4,586) in bail, and is scheduled for an arraignment on Friday. "We will fight all bogus charges".

Mr Avenatti wrote: "This was a setup & politically motivated". A person who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment. Trump, who was married at the time of the alleged affair, has disputed her claims.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is suing Mr Trump and his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen to nullify a 2016 non-disclosure agreement preventing her from speaking out about the affair she says they had in 2006.

Just days before the 2016 election, Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 in exchange for her silence.
