LAS VEGAS-Former Toronto Raptors forward Charles Oakley is being accused of gambling fraud after a wager at a Las Vegas casino last weekend, casino regulators said Thursday.

A source close to Oakley tells us, "This is an insignificant matter that will be quickly resolved". The Knicks said Oakley had been engaging in "abusive behavior", but Oakley argued he was targeted because of his public criticism of Knicks owner James Dolan. Oakley was charged with misdemeanor assault and trespassing, among other charges.Oakley later agreed to a plea deal to have the charges dropped and subsequently filed the civil suit.

Oakley played for the Knicks from 1988 until 1998, helping them reach the 1994 NBA Finals alongside Patrick Ewing, John Starks, the late Anthony Mason and head coach Pat Riley. By the time of the 2017 incident, the relationship between the two parties had become more than hostile so Dolan had plenty of motive for wanting to embarrass Oakley.
