If he's jailed, will accompany him: Nawaz Sharif's mother

As Begum Kulsoom Nawaz regained "consciousness" on Thursday and deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif confirmed his homecoming on Friday, the stage is set for a tense showdown between the Punjab caretaker government and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) zealots amid a police crackdown on party workers in Lahore and its surrounding areas. But kids will still be kids.

They said Maryam Nawaz would most likely to be kept in Adiala jail in a block of cells being reserved for her father and where her husband was already confined.

NAB has acquired two helicopters-one at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport and the other at the New Islamabad International Airport to transport the two convicts. NAB Lahore is expected to arrest the Sharifs and hand them over to NAB Rawalpindi, which will put them in jail Friday night and then on Saturday present them before the judge who convicted them. Sharif had stepped down as prime minister in July after the apex court's ruling.

The military, which has ruled the nuclear-armed country for nearly half its history and ended Sharif's second stint in power in 1999 in a bloodless coup, denies involvement. When he returned to power in 2013, he clashed with the military over how to deal with Islamist militants and his desire for friendlier relations with arch-foe India.

"I have to enlighten the Pakistani nation that I am doing this for them". The army will deploy 350,000 security personnel to polling stations throughout the country on election day.

After the Supreme Court ousted Sharif last July, the courts barred him from heading the PML-N party he founded.

Further, the PML-N president said the verdict in the Avenfield reference was "unjust".

Since then, a host of his allies have been either disqualified by the courts, or face corruption cases.

PML-N leaders say authorities have began a crackdown against union council leaders, the street-level party workers who bring out people on the streets. Look at Sri Lanka, Singapore, China all of them worked on our blueprint and today we've lagged behind.
