Former US President Barack Obama Meets Raila Odinga

Obama previously visited Kenya in 2006, while he was still a USA senator from IL and again in 2015 during his tenure in the White House, but never lived there.

President Kenyatta congratulated Obama for establishing the Obama Foundation, which seeks to empower youth to become the agents of change that the African continent needs.

A statement sent to newsrooms said the talks were on the Building Bridges Initiative, youth empowerment, education and Kenya's efforts to bring peace to South Sudan. Induct the youth "The former US President called for greater induction of the youth into the initiative to ensure its deepening into the future", read the statement. Another group of reporters who arrived after Obama had left were however allowed in, only to be informed that the USA president was already on his way to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"The Obama Foundation also reached out to people who don't always have access to opportunities‚ the people who don't always live in capital cities".

Obama announced the trip on social media last week. "This will be a private affair and we want it to remain that way", he said.

Also during the interview , he labeled Russian Federation , the European Union and China as foes to the United States. Russian Federation has continually denied their alleged meddling before Trump's shocking win over Clinton.

Another superstar, Oprah Winfrey, will not travel to Kenya with Obama this weekend but will join him in South Africa.Winfrey is among 350 celebrities and notables travelling to Africa together with Obama.

He was expected to meet a number of members of his extended family, before launching the Sauti Kuu (Swahili for "Strong Voices") centre set up by his half-sister Auma Obama.

The Associated Press reported that the former president had arrived in Kenya, where his late father was born.

His Kisumu counterpart Anyang Nyong'o, however, went through the routine check without a fuss.
