Orioles Have Deal In Place To Trade Machado

For well over six seasons, Manny Machado's value to the Baltimore Orioles has been exclusively his ability to hit and play the field.

Over the last few weeks, the Manny Machado talks have started to heat up.

A report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports on Tuesday stated that Machado is expected to be traded to the Dodgers on Wednesday, which would potentially allow him to play on the American League squad in the All-Star Game. Recently, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies have been considered the leaders to land the shortstop.

While Heyman doesn't reveal the team Machado will soon be suiting up for, he did have some details.

"The tour de France to 2018": Groenewegen won the seventh stage
Belgium's Greg van Avermaet retained the overall race lead, with the yellow jersey having finished safely in the main field. Wiggins continued, describing the Team Sky principal, Dave Brailsford, as "divisive" and "self-serving".

Jayson Stark said this yesterday, which we reported on, and now ESPN has confirmed through sources that the Orioles have a deal in place involving their All-Star shortstop. Between the Stark report on Monday and the reports that emerged early Tuesday morning, the chips feel to be falling in Philadelphia's favor. The trade would greatly benefit the Dodgers, who lost shortstop Corey Seager in May due to season-ending Tommy John surgery. Machado is also a pending free agent, and by all accounts he's determined to test the market. Regardless of his defensive position, any team acquiring Machado is certain to slot him into the middle of their order. They'd probably need to outbid everyone else, too.

Machado was drafted by the Orioles with the third overall pick in 2010 and has been a starter in Baltimore since 2012. "I try not to worry about that kind of stuff". He's now hitting.315 with 24 home runs, 65 RBI and what would be a career-best.962 OPS. I mean, I don't know if I'm going to get a call or not, but I'm just trying to enjoy this last off day.

Said Machado: "After a rain delay, I have no idea". I want to thank all those who have been with me throughout the process and especially thank the @twins organizations for allowing me to catch my flight.
