Chinese factory rushing to make Trump's 2020 banners in fear of tariffs

"We have made it clear all along that all of our merchandise is 100% made in the USA", Michael Glassner, the campaign's chief operating officer, said in a statement to CNN.

Workers in Fuyang, China have been busy at work, leaning over sewing machine tables, hemming the edges of Trump's "Keep America Great!" banners and shipping them off. The Trump administration has imposed tariffs on $34 billion worth of goods from China.

The US on Monday launched a dispute at the (WTO) challenging five WTO member countries for applying trade tariffs in retaliation for US President Trump's recent actions on the aluminium and steel trade. But they are made in eastern China and soon could be hit by punitive tariffs of Trump's own making. The U.S. has slapped charges on steel and aluminum imports coming from Europe, while the European Union has retaliated with tariffs on $3.25 billion worth of U.S. exports, including bourbon and motorcycles.

Washington's move on Monday coincided with another formal challenge issued hours before by Beijing against the United States after President Trump made a decision to impose, earlier this year, $200 Billion in additional tariffs on a list of Chinese products. While the summer is usually the slow season at Jiahao Flag Co Ltd, the factory has packaged more than 90,000 of the iconic red, white and blue banners since March, according to Reuters.

"It's closely related", Yao told Reuters.

Yao added that an escalation of the trade spat would affect her price advantage, which in turn could prevent the company from taking more orders. Reuters reports the factory doesn't just make paraphernalia for the president but also sells American and rainbow flags.

"Everyone can have a patriotic heart, but this won't improve his economy", Yao said.
