Ruby Rose cast as Batwoman on The CW

Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns will produce, while Vampire Diaries alum Caroline Dries writes and produces. The character is described as a hero with a flair for social justice who isn't afraid to speak her mind, something Rose is very familiar with as a vocal advocate for LGBT rights. In a city desperate for a saviour, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope.

Per Variety's report, Rose's version of the character, Kate Kane, will first appear in The CW's annual crossover between all of its Arrowverse shows.

More as it fires in.

Plans are also afoot to give Kane/Batwoman a series of her own. The CW has developed their Batwoman as an out lesbian, and searched for an out lesbian actress to play the part.

Arsenal's Stan Kroenke Makes Offer To Take Full Ownership Of Club
The statement on the London Stock Exchange said KSE, a DE corporation owned by Kroenke, holds 41,743 Arsenal shares. To do that he has a loan agreement with Deutsche Bank to lend him £557m, allowing him to fund the takeover.

As only a comic book franchise can do, there are actually two Batwoman characters in the current DC Comics "continuity", one which uses the real name Kathy, and the other which uses the real name Kate. That timeframe would allow the solo series to first focus on Kate's personal journey, then build up to what goes down in the Arrowverse mash-up, and ultimately open the door for more crossovers down the line. Just a few weeks ago it was revealed that transgender activist and actress Nicole Maines would be joining the cast of Supergirl as TV's first openly trans superhero.

CW is pulling out some big guns for their possible upcoming Batwoman TV show. The Silver Age Batwoman is best known as Kathy Kane, who was created in order to offset rumors that Batman and Robin were homosexuals.

Pedowitz also confirmed that the Arrowverse iteration of the Batwoman character would reside in Gotham City. Congratulations to all Jewish bats, lesbians, and Ruby Rose lovers!

Before Batwoman becomes a reality for Rose, she'll next be seen in Jason Statham's new shark movie The Meg, which hits US cinemas this weekend.
