Baby's body pulled from water near Brooklyn Bridge

"Monte Campbell told The Times he was on hold with 911, "...and at that point I decided I had to go make sure.

A family of tourists from Oklahoma had just finished a Statute of Liberty tour in Lower Manhattan when they saw what they at first thought may have been a doll in the East River.

ABC7 in New York City reported that "waves" appeared to be pushing the body near the shore.

It wasn't immediately clear why the boy was in the water, but police say no parent or guardian was present and was suffering no obvious signs of trauma when he was spotted in the water.

A bystander plucked the baby - who was about 8 months old - from the water, but he could not be saved.

Her husband, Monte Campbell, who is a chiropractor, told the Times he called 911 and that when he was put on hold he decided to make sure it was a real baby and not a doll.

Mourinho closes door on Pogba exit
In spite of Mourinho telling the press that all is well between them, these recent rumours have proved otherwise. The club's pre-season tour of the United States has hardly increased confidence in Mourinho's project.

A baby boy was pronounced dead on Sunday after tourists found him floating in New York's East River wearing only a diaper, police said.

"That's when I spotted the baby".

Authorities say an officer climbed over the safety railing and brought the unconscious child onto the walkway where officers attempted CPR.

"My mom, she was out here and she was kind of just looking in the water, and she calls my dad over and says 'there's a baby in the water!'" Austin told ABC 7 in NY.

Diana Campbell took video and photos of the scene, hoping the images would be helpful in identifying the infant.
