Agent says Dedryck Boyata 'won't risk future' by playing for Celtic

FENENRBACHE have had a bid for Dedryck Boyata rejected by Celtic, according to reports in Turkey.

While English Premier League clubs chose to shut their transfer window on 9th August, Celtic can do deals until the end of the month as the window in Scotland remains firmly open.

Asked how much of a distraction the Boyata issue had been, Rodgers said at the pre-match news conference in Athens: "More sad than a distraction".

'The last game we played against them I thought we dominated, so if we just go over and try to implement our game plan again I'm sure we do well. We have to put the faith in the squad of players that want to be here and want to fight for the result and that's my focus, really - on the players that we have.

Bullish over Celtic's chances in the Olympic Stadium despite the loss of an away goal in Glasgow, Hendry added: 'If we play as we did at home we shouldn't have any problems.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he has taken calls personally from Italy, with Roma among the parties still interested in signing the 27-year-old.

"Last Thursday, I hurt myself when I slipped in training and I held my leg immediately".

As expected, Jozo Simunovic partners Jack Hendry at the heart of the defence with Krisoffer Ajer suspended and Dedryck Boyata at odds with the club.

"The physio saw it and examined me right after the session".

"The exams proved I could not play against Hearts and, since then, I'm doing everything I can to be ready as quickly as possible".
