World Cup finalists Croatia thrashed by Spain

Spain's impressive start to the Nations League continued as they thrashed World Cup runners-up Croatia.

Marco Asensio was arguably the star of the show and scored his first worldwide goal on 33 minutes by capitalising on some sloppy midfield play to collect the ball 25 yards out and beat Lovre Kalinic with a left-footed rocket.

The six zero scoreline at the full time whistle revealed a very rare statistic, and clearly showed the attacking prowess of Spain - all the six goals were scored by different players, including an own goal from the Croatian goalkeeper, Kalinic.

Isco completed Croatia's heaviest ever defeat with a sixth before the end as Luis Enrique's youthful and exciting side produced a result which will send shockwaves around Europe.

"We played a spectacular game and rounded off a brilliant week".

The UEFA Nation's League match between Spain and Croatia will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Univision Deportes.

The forecast comes after a Saturday tweet from Trump urging Apple to avoid tariff costs by increasing domestic production. With the Apple Watch Series 3 - which saw the inclusion of LTE functionality - sales of Apple's wearable truly exploded.

Luis Enrique couldn't have asked for a much better start as coach of Spain's national team. Carvajal also provided the cross from which Saul headed the opener, giving Spain a huge injection of belief and rattling the visitors, who moments later conceded possession in midfield before Asensio smashed the loose ball home from long range.

Croatia is the 2018 World Cup runner-up, winning its group that included Argentina before beating Denmark, Russia and England on the way to the final.

Belgium earned a comfortable win over Iceland thanks to a pair of goals by Romelu Lukaku and one from Eden Hazard.

Ten minutes later Marco Asensio made it 2-nil with a powerful shot. The Manchester United striker then added a third with a deft flick nine minutes from fulltime.

After this game, Croatia will host England in their next Nations League match on Friday 12 October. For whatever it's worth, the revamped Spain team looked quite sharp, using a more direct approach than the various forms of tiki-taka we have come to expect since La Roja's 2010 World Cup win. Yet despite missing one of their main playmakers, there was no lack of creativity in the side.
