Gunman Kills Five People Before Shooting Self In Bakersfield

Kern County officials said the deadly spree became after the man and his wife got into a fight with another man at a trucking business.

A man and his wife drove to a trucking business in the city, where the man shot dead two men and his wife.

He did not disclose the identities of the victims, and added the woman whose vehicle was taken, and her child, were unharmed.

About 30 people witnessed the shootings, authorities said.

He told reporters about 10 to 15 minutes elapsed from the first shooting until the gunman killed himself, says CBS Bakersfield affiliate KBAK-TV. A third man who arrived at the business was also pursued and shot.

A sheriff's deputy then spotted the man driving and when he pulled the man over and confronted him he shot himself in the chest, local media say.

Bakersfield is a city of approximately 380,000 residents in southern California, about 100 miles north-northwest of Los Angeles.

Bloodworth Thomason goes on to describe how Moonves shut down her career at every turn beginning in 1995. He added: 'One such note should not result in termination after 36 years, but it did'.

All the shootings occurred in unincorporated Bakersfield so they were handled by the Kern County Sheriff's Office. The suspect shot the man to death outside of a nearby gun shop, the sheriff said.

Police said a sheriff's deputy spotted the vehicle a short time later on a nearby highway.

Police recovered a pistol at the scene. When deputies closed in on the suspect, he then shot himself. "This is highly unusual", he said.

Referring to recent shootings across the country, Youngblood decried Wednesday's events as the "new normal".

It remains unclear what motivated the killings and who the other victims are.

The Kern County sheriff said the motive was not immediately clear but that much of his department was working on piecing the shootings together.
