Studio: No decision on Henry Cavill’s future as Superman

With all of Warner Bros.'s DC movies now lined up, a Superman movie is still several years away, with the Supergirl movie being slated first.

Affleck's departure from Batman is causing a stir on social media from fans of the Warner Bros. franchises, eager to know who will star in the forthcoming Batman movie from director Matt Reeves.

A report on Deadline says they have looked at going in a completely different direction for Superman - with Creed star Michael B Jordan having reportedly being considered to take the role.

The studios focus is said to be turning to a new Supergirl movie, which would be set years before Man of Steel.

Warner Brothers' DCEU, or the DC Extended Universe, has had its share of problems.

Amid the news of Henry Cavill's exit from Superman role, it was also confirmed that the studio was, in fact, planning on including a cameo of the red-caped superhero in Shazam!

Shoigu has said they are the biggest since a Soviet military exercise, Zapad-81 (West-81) in 1981. The demonstration of military might will include some joint exercises with the Chinese army.

Cavill's agent, Dany Garcia (whose clients also include ex-husband Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) issued an update via Twitter, hinting that "the cape is still in his closet" while promising that Warner Bros. will be issuing a formal statement later on Wednesday. The production company did note that they "have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films".

Domestically, none of Cavill's DCEU films has topped $340 million at the box office. He followed up the portrayal in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017). This would mean that an actor of Cavill's age would no longer be required as superman would be a young adult.

Warner Bros. did not immediately return a request for comment.

Another Irishman, Cillian Murphy, is in contention for the part and is priced at 10/1 to be named the next Man of Steel along with Armie Hamer, Channing Tatum, and Donald Glover.

With its Supergirl plans, WB is said to be keen to shelve the character of Superman for a few years before a Bond style reboot with a new leading man.

Cavill also recently was cast in the lead role for Netflix's The Witcher, which made his availability for cameo appearances more hard.
