Black Surface accidentally leaked by Microsoft

We still know don't which elements of the Surface family will be released in black models, or why Microsoft would hold an entirely separate event dedicated to the "new" color scheme. The company is expected to introduce a new Surface Pro device, updated Surface Laptop, and a new Surface Studio at an event in New York City.

Surface fans who may have been looking forward to USB-C support, given that the new Surface Book 2 and Go already got the new port, won't be happy to hear Microsoft didn't redesign these two notebooks.

According to sources, it's highly likely that Microsoft will simply be using its proprietary DisplayPort and Surface Connector combo.

Microsoft's event will take place on October 2 at 4PM ET (1:30am IST, October 3).

If past reports are accurate, the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro would step up to quad-core 8th-generation Intel Core chips, with more RAM in most configurations. Indian Express, citing a Vietnamese website which uploaded an unboxing video of the soon-to-be-launched Surface Pro 6, reported the leak. Even the design of the Surface Pro 6 is going to resemble last year's model. The alternative suggests that either the new Surface Laptops will cost more than $999 for the base unit or that MS is going to charge one heck of a premium to move from 128GB to 256GB of storage. The original model which launched in December 2016 received some criticism for its high price and underpowered specs, and we hope to see a new version today with the latest Intel processors and more powerful GPUs. The good news is that both devices will be cheaper than before. Like the Surface Laptop 2, the device will be available with the consumer version of Windows 10 in S-Mode.

There have been several leaks and rumours in past but this time the Surface Pro 6 leak comes in the form of a high-quality unboxing video posted to YouTube.

"In April 2012, Microsoft launched the Surface RT, its sleek black chassis, detachable keyboard and integrated kick stand started a wave of innovation that has no signs of slowing down", Microsoft detailed in a New Zealand invite.

Microsoft originally launched the Surface RT and Surface in a black coloured variant, but eventually switched to silver.
