UN Ambassador Nikki Haley resigning

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley resigning

When she stepped down Tuesday as USA ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley became one of the only senior staff members to walk away from the White House with her reputation largely intact.

Haley appeared with President Trump at the Oval Office this morning, where he called her a "fantastic person", and said Haley had told him six months ago that she might take time off at the end of the year.

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is resigning, The Associated Press has learned.

Some have reported that her resignation was prompted by her aspirations to run for President.

According to CREW, Haley claimed she and Gibbs had been friends for five years, during her tenure as the state's governor. "And I do think that sometimes it's good to rotate in other people who can put that same energy and power into it", Haley said. As a private citizen, I look forward to supporting your re-election as President, and supporting the policies that will continue to move our great country toward even greater heights.

She also complimented members of Trump's team, including senior advisers Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.

Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, urged the White House to immediately name a successor.

'Hopefully you'll be coming back at some point, ' Trump said, perhaps in a different capacity.

Brees is all-time passing leader
The Saints, at coach Sean Payton's insistence, took a chance on Brees in 2006, and the payoff has been extraordinary. The Saints and their fans have had a lot to cheer about on Monday.

She told reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday: "No, I am not running for 2020". Haley's op-ed was headlined, "When I challenge the president, I do it directly".

Haley, 46, was appointed to the UN post in November 2016 and last month coordinated Trump's second trip to the United Nations, including his first time chairing the Security Council.

She also took credit for cutting the US contribution to the United Nations budget, characterizing the move as moving the organization toward more efficiency.

Haley was not exactly on the Trump train from the get-go - she endorsed Florida Senator Marco Rubio during the Republican primary race in 2016 before backing Senator Ted Cruz.

Haley, in turn, called her tenure at the United Nations "the honor of a lifetime", saying, "I have been such a lucky girl to lead the state that raised me, and serve the country I love so much". "But I don't agree with the president on everything".

"Nikki Haley has been a clear, consistent, and powerful voice for America's interests and democratic principles on the world stage".

And on Monday, the Washington, D.C. -based watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington called for an investigation into seven private flights taken by Haley that were paid for by SC business executives.
