Sony announces it will let you change your PSN ID in 2019

The blog post added: "During the preview, you will be able to change your online ID as many times as you want".

Once the feature comes out of beta, changing the Online ID for the first time will be completely free of charge. Once you decide to display your old ID or not, you won't be able to adjust this after completing the online ID change process.

Now, at long last, PSN will fall in line with virtually every other online service you can think of and let users change their name.

The PSN name change feature has been officially announced by Sony. Subsequent name changes will cost money, with it being $4.99 for PlayStation Plus members and $9.99 for everyone else.

The pricing for PSN name changes mirrors that on Xbox Live, which has allowed users to change their Gamertags since shortly after the Xbox 360 was released in 2005.

With Jay Ajayi Done, the Eagles Should Trade for Le'Veon Bell
Although Smallwood has done a nice job as the team's primary target out of the backfield, McCoy would be an upgrade. Or, the Eagles could decide to keep him for $6.1 million next season.

All PlayStation 4 games published after April 1, 2018 are compatible with PlayStation Network online ID changes, as are a large majority of the most-played PlayStation 4 games released prior to this date. "Changes to online ID can be made through the Settings menu or via the Profile page of your PS4".

Another caveat is that the new feature won't be compatible with all games. PlayStation is making it clear not all PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games are guaranteed to support the feature, so users might see issues or errors in certain games.

If you were to run into multiple issues and wish to undo the change, you will be able to revert the change and go back to your original name. Reverting back to an old ID will resolve most issues caused by the ID change.

Preview program to launch at the end of November. Sony will provide a list of supported ID change games (again, this is freaky that it doesn't just work universally, and a glimpse into Sony's odd infrastructure).

If you are not one of the lucky test users, you will need to wait until 2019, when a full roll out is planned for the feature.
