With Jay Ajayi Done, the Eagles Should Trade for Le'Veon Bell

Despite Philadelphia having a few likely candidates capable of stepping up in Ajayi's absence, there has been plenty of talk surrounding the possibility of the Eagles pulling off a big trade to bring another top running back on board.

McCoy, the Eagles' all-time leading rusher, played the first six seasons of his career with the Eagles, with two All-Pro finishes.

I know you're coming here hoping for a definitive answer: Is it Corey Clement or Wendell Smallwood who will replace Jay Ajayi, who will miss the rest of the year with a torn ACL? McCoy has averaged 1,604 yards from scrimmage the last two seasons in Buffalo. These aren't the numbers we've been accustomed to seeing from McCoy. He also caught one pass for five yards.

Given that the defending Super Bowl winners remain in their championship window, it makes sense for Roseman to see if Buffalo is willing to part with the talented but aging running back. Although Smallwood has done a nice job as the team's primary target out of the backfield, McCoy would be an upgrade.

Nathan Deal on Tuesday issued a state of emergency covering 92 counties - almost the entire lower two-thirds of his state. The storm was centered about 365 miles south of Apalachicola and 395 miles south of Panama City, Florida.

McCoy would come back with his fair share of baggage, most recently, he was accused of somehow being involved in a home invasion where his ex-girlfriend was beaten and robbed.

And then there's the off-field issue. The Eagles did just restructure Fletcher Cox's contract, which would give them the flexibility to add McCoy if they choose to go that way. "We think we still have talented players to be able to be really good at the running back position". McCoy has a salary cap hit of around $8.9 million this season for Buffalo, but the Eagles would be paying a fraction of that.

2019: McCoy now have a base salary in 2019 of $6.1 million. Or, the Eagles could decide to keep him for $6.1 million next season.

The Eagles play at the Giants on Thursday.
