After White House visit, Kanye West stops by Apple store in Georgetown

President Donald Trump is set for a White House lunch with rapper Kanye West, whom he calls a longtime friend.

He said his "Make America Great Again" hat gives him power.

"You made a Superman - that's my favourite superhero - you made a Superman cape for me". The unlikely allies spoke to reporters before a closed-door lunch that had been billed as a forum to discuss policy issues including manufacturing, gangs, prison reform and violence in Chicago, where West grew up.

The tête-à-tête also comes the same week as West's longtime rival, Taylor Swift, entered the political arena for the first time, encouraging her fans to register to vote and endorsing Tennessee Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen and House candidate Jim Cooper, also a Democrat. In a weird performance last month on "Saturday Night Live" he delivered an unscripted pro-Trump message after the credits rolled.

What could help Chicago, West said, was the opening up of industries and tax breaks. Let me give this guy a hug right here.

From there, West discussed prison reform and violence in inner-city Chicago.

She secured a pardon for a great-grandmother who had been serving a life sentence for drugs offences.

T.I. claims West invited him to accompany him to the White House, but he declined the offer.

He repeatedly mentioned the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which outlawed slavery. "Those in the music business say he's a genius, and that's OK with me". It's a hydrogen-powered airplane, and this is what our president should be flying in.

"It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS.Man, who would have expected the ride we're all having right now?". This is our president. "He has to be the freshest, the flyest".

"People expect that if you're Black, you have to be Democrat", West said, rejecting the "control of people through the concept of racism".

As a leader you can talk on the pitch, but I have seen leaders who do not necessarily speak. I need to be even more decisive, to score more goals, ' he said .

West has taken a liking to Trump's dumbass red headwear in recent months.

"There was something about putting this hat on that made me feel like Superman", West told Mr Trump during the 10-minute speech.

He told Trump he had stopped a potential war with North Korea. "That's the best he could do for me".

The rapper, who has become one of Trump's highest-profile celebrity supporters, visited the president at the White House for a planned meeting Thursday afternoon.

In an interview with Fox News before the meeting, Trump said the justice system was "very unfair to African-Americans it's very unfair to everybody".

West then launched into his startling monologue.

Thursday's visit will mark Kanye's second sit-down with Trump - the Chicago, Illinois native previously showed his support for the leader by stopping by his Trump Tower offices in NY shortly after he was elected into office in November, 2016.

His statement lasted almost 10 minutes before the president chimed in to compliment West on his honesty.

"We had the opportunity to meet with the President of the United States which everybody doesn't have that privilege". West shot back, "Only after 2024".

West has long appeared to be fascinated with Trump, as well as the possibilities of a presidential platform: In 2015, he seemed to enjoy provoking the public into believing he was interested in a 2020 run.
