He added a couple more tweets about "Caravan" this, Democrats that, before switching gears to proclaim "Big Night In Texas!" referring to his Monday night rally in Houston to support Ted Cruz ahead of the midterm elections.

Mexico's president-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who takes office December 1, said the United States should welcome all migrants.

Trump did not say in his tweets whether cutting foreign aid to Mexico was being considered.

President Trump expressed in a series of tweets Monday morning that the caravan is a national emergency and warned that "criminals and unknown Middle Easterners" could be in the caravan as well.

That plan would create a number of legal entanglements, though the president's suggestion of a military option served to underscore his frustration with the situation and the lack of tools the USA has to counter determined migrants willing to make the trip and prepared to demand asylum, whether deserving or not.

Members of the caravan, exhausted from the hours-long trek on foot from the Guatemalan border, mostly ignored police offers to board buses heading to a migrant shelter because of suspicions they might be deported instead.

Trump said in one of three tweets on the subject on Monday morning that the US will begin "cutting off, or substantially reducing" aid to three Central American nations over a migrant caravan heading to the USA southern border. Hundreds of locals driving pickups, vans and cargo trucks stopped to let them clamber aboard.

He said that the immigration laws in the United States need to change and blamed the Democrats for not voting to change them.

Around 5,000 Central American migrants are attempting to enter the U.S., despite Mexican efforts to stop them at the border.

Sadly, it looks like Mexico's Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States.

Migration is just as controversial in Mexico, where President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said he will ask Mr. Trump to pony up more money to try to build Central American society and create jobs in Mexico, hoping to stem the flow of people to the U.S. "Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in", he said on Twitter. It had drawn over 5,000 people by the time it reached southern Mexico on Sunday.

Two days later, Trump threatened to order the military to shut down the U.S. -Mexico border.

"In this way we confront the phenomenon of migration, because he who leaves his town does not leave for pleasure but out of necessity", said Lopez Obrador, who takes office December 1.

Honduran migrants hoping to reach the USA sleep in the southern Mexico city of Tapachula, Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, in a public plaza featuring a statue of Mexican national hero Miguel Hidalgo, a priest who launched Mexico's War of Independence in 1810.

The flag had also been painted with a swastika. Other photos showed the group burning tires and holding Honduran flags.
