Qualcomm launches the mid-range Snapdragon 675 geared towards mobile gaming

Incidentally, this is the first processor to be manufactured on the 11nm fabrication process. To give you a longer gaming time and more efficient charging time, the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology is implemented in the Snapdragon 675. There is also the support for popular tools and APIs including Vulkan, OpenGL 3.2, OpenCL, and Snapdragon profiler. Remember that we now have two magnifications on most optical zoom phones and three magnifications on Huawei phones with their own processor. The 675 brings support for triple cameras to the mid-range, packing telephoto, wide, and ultra-wide lenses, and Qualcomm even says that in "some cases" it would be possible to run a fourth lens, something we've so far only seen in the Samsung Galaxy A9.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 may be the successor to the 670, but it has a few downgraded specs.

More precisely, the Snapdragoon 675 packs two performance-focused cores clocked at 2.0GHz alongside six 1.78GHz cores designed for power efficiency.

The all-new Snapdragon 675 chipset brings series of upgrades to this year's Snapdragon 670 and Xiaomi's new smartphone will be among the first ones to leverage those new capabilities. The Snapdragon 675 will support dual SIM dual VoLTE, Wi-Fi 2×2 MIMO & Bluetooth 5.0. They will be optimized specifically for the Snapdragon 675. Everything is powered by the chipset's 2nd-gen Spectra ISP.

One of the highlights belonging to the Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform is its multi-core AI engine which improves the performance of AI applications by almost 50 percent. Qualcomm claims that this new chip also allows mobile payment security and work along with technologies like Megvii (Face++), NetEase, SenseTime, Thundersoft and Trio AI.

The Qualcomm's latest mid-range chipset comes with Snapdragon X12 modem which supports download speed up to 600Mbps and 3x carrier aggregation. Devices on this chip will be able to record 4K video at 30 FPS.

On the camera front, the Snapdragon 675 will support triple cameras with 5x optical zoom.

The 675 is expected to be implemented into consumer phones in Q1 of 2019, but with the mobile platform already being available today, developers can get started creating apps, services, and other features that optimize this new generation system-on-chip.
