Davidson makes light of engagement to Grande, fans go on offensive

The relationship between Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson has been a dramatic one to say the least.

In a new "Saturday Night Live" promo, Davidson jokingly proposed to this week's musical guest, singer Maggie Rogers, as host actor Jonah Hill looked on.

"Hey Maggie, I'm Pete", Davison said in the clip.

Perhaps their breakup isn't as amicable as fans thought.

"She had no idea how much everyone in her family didn't like him until she broke it off and was like 'why didn't you all tell me when we were together?' But ultimately they just wanted to see her happy".

Though Rogers, 24, quickly declines, Davidson responds by saying he's "0-3", poking fun at his failed relationships. Davidson performed at a benefit show in Los Angeles last month and joked to the crowd, "Anybody looking for a roommate?"

The 25-year-old singer sent a cryptic tweet, writing: "for somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh". In a series of now-deleted tweets, Grande seemed to find it amusing that Davidson "hated relevancy" in their relationship but continues to talk about her. Grande retweeted that tweet with a simple period, heavily suggesting that her previous tweets were about Davidson.
