Amazon exec calls out 'genius' who leaked possible headquarters details

The Wall Street Journal reports that New York City is one of three municipalities in the late stages of discussion with Amazon about the two-city plan, along with Dallas and Crystal City, Virginia.

Retail giant Amazon Inc. is in "advanced talks" to open its second headquarters in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, The Washington Post reported Saturday.

Speculation is also building that an announcement about which city will get HQ2 could come this month after Tuesday's midterm elections, according to the Washington Post story. On Monday, hours before the news of the split locations broke, Governor Andrew (for now) Cuomo announced his willingness to "change my name to Amazon Cuomo if that's what it takes". Amazon's requirements included a metropolitan area with more than 1 million people, close access to an worldwide airport, and "a stable and business-friendly environment" offering "urban or suburban locations with the potential to attract and retain strong technical talent".

Shortly afterward, Trump said in West Virginia that he'd watched Obama's speech on television aboard Air Force One. They expect that number to skyrocket as Election Day nears. 'At this point it's going to be turnout, ' she said.

The retailer previously announced a planned investment of $5 billion and 50,000 jobs for the second headquarters. If it does turn out to be Crystal City and New York City, we hope Amazon has a plan for how to deal with all the traffic.

"Amazon may select one or more proposals and negotiate with the parties submitting such proposals before making an award decision, or it may select no proposals and enter into no agreement", the company said. New York City and Newark, New Jersey, are among the finalists, as are Washington, Northern Virginia and Montgomery County, Maryland.
