Facebook Messenger Unsend feature gives you 10 minutes to take it back

'If you accidentally send the wrong photo, incorrect information or message the wrong thread, you can easily correct it by removing the message within ten minutes of sending it'.

You can finally take back your ill-conceived messages on Facebook.

Now Facebook is planning to save Messenger users from some of this pain. The company has, however, did not divulge as to when will the new feature roll out.

A new "Unsend" feature will be included in version 191.0 of the iOS Messenger app, according to the release notes for the update.

However, unlike it's billionaire founder Mark Zuckerberg's messages which were many years old at the time of deletion, Facebook is only extending us Facebook-using peons the ability to retract and remove messages within a 10 minute timeframe.

Tamera Mowry-Housley confirms niece died in Thousand Oaks shooting
A gunman opened fire inside the crowded bar late Wednesday night, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. Her Fox News correspondent uncle headed over to the hospital in search for his niece at 3:30 a.m. local time .

Conflicting message aside, it would seem like a pretty tight window, compared to the implementation by other apps.

But we do know the feature has been in the works since back in April, having been first spotted in testing last month.

Right now you can delete messages but it only will delete the message on your end and not the recipient's end. Maybe you sent a picture to someone you didn't want to.

Other messaging services, including Facebook's own WhatsApp, have the same option, though it gives users an hour to delete any embarrassing/drunken/threatening communications.

At the time of the discovery, when editing messages already sent in a conversation, the "Unsend Message" option will appear.
