Apple cuts production orders for all three new iPhone models

And in the past week, Apple told several suppliers that it cut its production plan again for the iPhone XR, some of the people said Monday, as Apple battles a maturing smartphone market and stiff competition from Chinese producers.

Apple recently informed the two companies it was reducing orders for their respective components by around 30 per cent from what was originally planned, said the two people, who declined to be identified because the information is private.

Forecasts have been especially problematic in the case of the iPhone XR.

Apple shocked investors a few weeks ago with a lower-than-expected sales forecast for the Christmas quarter, prompting certain suppliers to issue warnings that pointed to weakness in new iPhone sales. Sales of the more affordable iOS handset had not reached the point where a boost in supply for the holidays was required, insiders said.

Apple's argument at the time was that the numbers were "less relevant" to performance.

UK Conservative lawmaker says PM May faces day of reckoning on Monday
Corbyn told Sky News . "He thinks what I am doing is important for the British people, though he doesn't put it like that". Several Conservative pro-Brexit MPs have already said they will not support the deal as well as some pro-EU MPs.

Apple did not respond to a request for comment.

In the background, meanwhile, more production shuffles have been underway.

We already knew the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR haven't sold as well as analysts expected, but the Wall Street Journal reported that the cuts created havoc for its suppliers, citing anonymous sources.

Another important factor to consider is the fact that there's apparently a "lower-than-expected demand for the new iPhones", claims the report. The component companies have both been supplying the Cupertino, California-based U.S. technology giant for years.
