Outage Hits Facebook, Instagram Users

Facebook is having issues since 6:17 pm (IST).

Users in the US and Europe began reporting that Facebook has been inaccessible since at least 8:15 a.m. ET.

Facebook acknowledged their mistake and apologised to the users.

"Earlier today, a routine test caused users to have trouble accessing or posting to all Facebook services including WhatsApp and Instagram". Just last week, a widespread outage was also reported.

Users looking for answers headed to Twitter, where the #facebookdown hashtag rapidly started trending.

In addition, all affected users have been contacted and warned to change their password as well as clear their browser's history. A couple of months back, Facebook suffered a huge security breach that affected nearly 50 million accounts.

"We know some people are having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps".

'We are investigating the issue and working on a resolution, ' she wrote. So far, the company has not explained the cause of the outage.

Outage monitor Down Detector is still registering hundreds of reports from users claiming they are unable to access the social media site as normal. Central time, according to Downdetector.com, which tracks website issues and outages.

Small, short outages usually happen every so often to all of the social media giants. The majority of reports are coming from the East Coast of the United States of America and from Western Europe.
