Free Agent Prize Patrick Corbin Signs Six-Year Deal with Washington Nationals

The Phillies are aiming to add one starter to the rotation, Heyman continues, with a left-hander in particular being a preference.

However, this is the first report that seems to signal Philadelphia may be in front of the listed teams in regards to the chances of signing the two-time All-Star, as well as news that they aren't afraid to outspend any other potential suitor. Eovaldi made 12 appearances for the Red Sox last season after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays.

After going 82-80 and failing to make the playoffs after two NL East titles in a row, Washington has been busy this off-season. The Phillies telling Corbin they won't be out-bid isn't surprising, especially after owner John Middleton's remarks to Nightengale in which he said they expect to be a "little stupid" about how they spend their money.
