Father: Body Found In Costa Rica Is My Missing Daughter

Stefaniak traveled to Costa Rica to celebrate her 36th birthday, according to the family.

Stefaniak's family also said they are not done fighting for her, saying they plan to continue to press authorities to look into the possible involvement of more people in her death.

Family friend, Greg Zwolinsky, who is with them in Costa Rica, said he wants everyone to remember Stefaniak based on the radiance of her personality that is portrayed in pictures of her smiling.

Authorities in Costa Rica say they think that a body discovered near an apartment in the capital of San Jose is that of missing Florida woman Carla Stefaniak, who disappeared while vacationing in the Central American nation.

Officials said a separate task force with K9s searched Stefaniak's room and found "biological fluids compatible with blood" that were sent for testing.

A photo from the Facebook page Finding Carla shows Carla Stefaniak who was reported missing in Costa Rica. The last time her family had heard from the victim was November 27, when she wrote in a group chat on WhatsApp till her phone got switched off around 9 p.m. local time. Her body, covered in plastic bags, was discovered Monday about 300 yards from the Airbnb where she stayed.

When Jaime got to the airport around 5pm, she went inside to wait for her friend.

"It was her birthday, and she loves to be on social media", Stefaniak's brother, Carlos Caicedo, told CBS News.

According to Burton, the last thing they knew about Stefaniak was that she was inside that Airbnb on the night of the 27.

"As far as we know, she came out at 5am, the security guard opened the gate".

Meanwhile, the lawyer representing the complex that houses the Airbnb told ABC Action News they were "deeply saddened and devastated by the tragic events that occurred last week" and said that the owners were cooperating with authorities.

The body was found around noon Monday in a wooded area of the San Jose neighborhood of San Antonio de Escazu, he said. "She's not a person who doesn't talk to people", Jaime said.

"Solving this case is very important for the country, very important for the family of the victim", explained Walter Espinoza, spokesperson for Costa Rica's judicial investigation department, "and it is very important for this society in general".

So Stefaniak dropped off the rental vehicle and Antonieta at the airport, then ordered an Uber to take her to her AirBnB where she planned to stay until her flight the next day. Officials zeroed in on him late Monday after noting several contradictions in his story about Stefaniak's disappearance, Espinoza said.

Local 10 News reporter Trent Kelly spoke to Stefaniak's co-workers Tuesday at the insurance office in Dania Beach where she works. We're going on six days not hearing from her. When she never exited her scheduled flight Wednesday, her family began worrying.

"Six o'clock, still haven't heard from her", Burton said.

That same night, she was Facetiming with a friend in NY when the call dropped about 9pm.
