IPhone XR made up 32% of iPhone sales in its first month

Cupertino-based computing giant Apple will begin assembling high-end iPhone models - like the iPhone X - in India in 2019, according to a source who spoke with Reuters. 82 percent of the new iPhones bought this year in the USA were upgrades from older iPhone models, while 16 percent of the new purchases were made by Android users.

A report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners found that more Android users are switching to the iPhone. There's a catch, though, as it requires a trade-in of an iPhone 7 Plus device launched two years ago. The report looked at sales of all iPhone models during the first 30 days of availability for the iPhone XR this year. That makes it Apple's best-selling model in the U.S. It's nearly equal to the combined total of the XS and XS Max, who garnered 35 percent of U.S. iPhone sales in that same month. The iPhone X made up 30 percent of the total US sales in its first month, and the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus accounted for 39 percent of the stateside sales combined during the same time period. Moving iPhone production to India mitigates that risk and also helps Apple improve its relations in the critically important Indian market where the middle class is soaring and import taxes on products companies want to sell there are still quite high.

With all his success, Singer has shared grateful posts praising his parents and close friends on social media. Singer's post has almost 25,000 views on Instagram and 155,000 likes and 30,000 retweets on Twitter.

As recently as Wednesday, Apple was blasting out e-mails to shoppers that advertised the XR at $449 - provided customers trade in an older device. There could be any number of reasons for that, but we wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone XR's lower price tag of $749 is the main culprit.

CIRP data shows that 82 percent of existing iPhone users upgraded to the iPhone XR, while 16 percent Android users switched to it. "Of course, Apple doesn't just state plainly its launch strategy".
