The first PGA Tour event of 2019 comes this week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

With big-hitting American Woodland seemingly on autopilot on top of the leaderboard, Leishman gave himself a fighting chance with a five-under-par 68 to be 13 under overall and four shots behind Woodland.

That left him in joint-fourth position but eight shots behind the victor, Xander Schauffele, after the 25-year-old American covered his final 16 holes in 12-under-par to tie the course record with a closing 62 as he claimed a dramatic victory.

He played in the final group with Woodland, three shots behind, knowing he had played in the final group six times previous year without winning.

'For me I started a lot of these final rounds like two back, three back, ' McIlroy said.

"It was a insane day", Schauffele said.

"I don't think it will ever be easy because I still believe I was playing well enough to shoot 66 today", Woodland said. Needing a birdie on the par-5 18th hole, Woodland was unable to capitalize despite hitting his second shot within 50 yards of the green.

They were tied with three holes to play, with Schauffele in the group ahead of Woodland.

Five off the pace at the start, Schauffele, pictured left, looked to have little chance of tasting victory after opening the fourth round at Kapalua with a bogey.

"The evolution of our streaming partnership with Twitter over the past three years has led to extraordinary feedback from our fans globally", said Rick Anderson, Chief Media Officer of the PGA TOUR. After two birdies on the front nine, the Australian picked up four shots after the turn including a 27-foot birdie on the 12th. My best round of the year [in 2018] was Bay Hill and I always go back to that and I should have learned from that. "I got nervous coming down the stretch but I was able to pull off some shots". "You have an iron into the par 5 in the middle of the fairway on the last hole, you expect to make birdie".

"The next step in my career is to learn to be cool under the gun, having a lead and maintaining it".

"I probably pushed a little too hard, and it didn't really work out for me", McIlroy said. This is the third year in row that Twitter has streamed PGA Tour events - the relationship started with the 2016 FedEx Cup Playoffs. "I feel like until you're No. 1, you're chasing". "Frustrated right now but Xander played great, hat's off to him".

"This one will sting", Woodland said. Justin Thomas, who carded an impressive eight-under 65, finished in third on 18-under-par.
