The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL seeking a ban on the trailer of the movie The Accidental Prime Minister on the ground it had caused unaccountable damage to the name and fame of the office of the Prime Minister.

Moments after the release of The Accidental Prime Minister trailer, the damaging movie had received some severe backlash for its timing, which comes months before the Lok Sabha polls. Anupam Kher is seen in the lead role of Manmohan Singh along with Akshaye Khanna as Sanjaya Baru, Suzanne Bernet is playing the role of Sonia Gandhi.

Besides Kher, others named in the complaint include actor Akshaye Khanna, who essays the role of Baru in the film. The much-anticipated film based on Sanjaya Baru, the media advisor of Dr Manmohan Singh who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 is expected to garner good digits as the box office.

In fact, the trailer of the film too got vanished from YouTube.

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav also targeted Prime Minister Modi, calling him "confused".

Apart from the political jibes, in Delhi, the youth wing of Shiromani Akali Dal urged cinemas not to show the film, saying it would defame both Manmohan Singh and the country across the world.
