Teen driver does ’Bird Box’ challenge; results were ’predictable’: Cops

There were no injuries reported in connection with the crash.

Netflix original movie Bird Box inspired a Layton, Utah driver to operate a vehicle while blindfolded, resulting in an accident the Layton Police Department deemed a "predictable result", CBS News reports. But she may face reckless driving charges after she and a 16 year-old passenger allegedly pulled their beanies over their eyes and attempted to drive down a local highway.

The "Bird Box Challenge" takes its name from a recent Netflix movie "Bird Box", in which the characters must remain blindfolded.

A teenager with her hat over her eyes drove into oncoming traffic in the city of Layton while taking part in the so-called "Bird Box Challenge".

KUTV says that on Monday around 4:50 p.m., the 17-year-old girl was driving on Layton Parkway when her 16-year-old passenger made a decision to try the Bird Box Challenge, in which people blindfold themselves and see if they can do everyday tasks.

But the stakes behind the real-world version are far less urgent, nearly guaranteeing the likelihood that blindfolding yourself and trying to do things - especially around other people - will leave you (or them) in worse shape than before you started.

The new service-based Energizing Coach can even recommend one of the Energizing programmes. Finally, it now has a wide array of wheel designs that range from 16-inches to 19-inches.

The driver veered into oncoming traffic and struck a passenger auto.

The end of the world must be close thanks to the Netflix hit "Bird Box".

"I nearly feel silly saying this", said Layton Police Lieutenant Travis Lyman.

Police are reportedly weighing reckless driving charges against the teen. "The stakes are just so high and it's just such a potentially unsafe thing as it is: to try and do it in that way is inexcusable".

No one was injured in the crash - a relief to Netflix, which earlier this month issued a warning to fans of the film to lay off the blindfold stunts. "It really puts everybody at risk", said Travis Lyman of the Layton police. Officers said she was participating in the popular "Bird Box" social media challenge.
