China exchanged data with Nasa on mission to far side of moon

NASA provided information about its lunar orbiter satellite and China shared the time and coordinates of the intended landing. He said China hoped for global collaboration on its construction and welcomed other nations to use it for scientific purposes. In the same auction, three tiny Moon rocks brought back from space by the unmanned Soviet Luna-16 mission were sold for $855,000.

Li said the thicker dust seen when the lander touched down is strong evidence that this region of the moon is older.

Wu Yanhua, deputy director of the China National Space Administration (CNSA), said a primary analysis showed that the northwestern region to the probe is relatively flat, and the probe will mainly drive to the region. He added that while NASA's satellite did not catch the precise moment of landing, it took photographs of the area afterward.

The Chang'e-4 mission successfully landed on the moon on 3 January 2019. The state-run China Daily said that was the first such form of cooperation since the 2011 US law was enacted. "Chang'e 4 will do some preliminary exploration so that the countries can build a lunar research base together", Wu said.

The video footage, seen below, is black and white and gives a view of the landscape of the lunar far side that starts far away and hard to see in detail.

CNSA will also seek to construct a research station at the lunar south pole as China aims to assert itself as the equal of the U.S. in space exploration. "After its landing, we discovered large craters with a diameter of more than 10 meters on both the southern and northern sides of the probe, and it successfully avoided them", Sun said.

Pompeo to cut Middle East visit short
USA officials said the death was in the family of his wife, who accompanied him on the trip and will return with him. Trump tweeted late Sunday that the US will "attack again from existing nearby base if it (IS) reforms".

China also confirming the launch of a probe by the end of the year to bring back samples from the moon.

Wu Yanhua said the Chang'e 4 was originally built as a "backup product" for Chang'e 3.

The first two phases have been accomplished, and the next step is to launch the Chang'e 5 probe to collect roughly 4 lbs. And the floors of some polar craters are never exposed to sunlight and might hold frozen water, scientists say.

The Chang'e-5 mission, set to collect samples from the near side of the moon, will be carried out at the end of the year, while another probe will be sent to Mars by 2020, Wu Yanhua, deputy head of the space administration, told a briefing, according to an official online transcript.

The country has also said that it will welcome scientists and astronauts from around the world to make use of its space station, which is slated for completion by 2022.
