Japan launches Epsilon-4 rocket with 7 satellites

ALE says each satellite will provide on-demand shooting stars service to paying customers.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) launched the Epsilon-4 launch vehicle with seven satellites from its Uchinoura Space Center on Friday, Trend reported citing Sputnik. The satellite was on the Epsilon rocket and the launch took place at the Uchinoura space centre.

Even though it will be artificial, the light generated should be spectacular and even be bright enough to be visible in areas with heavy light pollution, according to the company. For the middle of the year should be carried by another satellite in the Orbit. The rocket also carried other six ultra-small satellites that will showcase different "innovative" technologies, JAXA spokesman Nobuyoshi Fujimoto told AFP. The first celestial show is scheduled to be performed over Hiroshima in early 2020.

Google Maps now showing posted speed limits for users across the US
Those who have it should see a prominent icon (that looks like a speed limit road sign) in the bottom left of the Android app. Given that the Bay Area was basically the only place where speed limits on Maps were deployed, the demotion made sense.

In the interior of the satellites are 400 small balls - they are about an inch tall.

The firm informed that after this first satellite, a second one is also in its final stage assembly at present and will be launched around summer of 2019.

When its two satellites are in orbit, they can be used separately or in tandem, and will be programmed to eject the balls at the right location, speed and direction to put on a show for viewers on the ground. The idea is that cities (or companies or individuals) might pay ALE big chunks of money to drop a handful of those pellets overhead, creating a sort of artificial, colorful meteor shower in the sky overhead. ALE chief executive Lena Okajima while speaking to media said that first ever artificial meteor show will be witnessed by Hiroshima because of its good climate and cultural assets.
