Samsung’s next flagships could come with 1TB storage

Samsung says it's now planning to put an end to that with a whole terabyte of storage space in its next smartphone generation.

Samsung started to mass-produce a memory chip that will equip future smartphones with 1 terabyte of storage, making them equivalent to notebook PCs, per a company announcement.

While Apple and Google are busy pushing cloud storage services for your mobile devices, Samsung has been developing the next generation of physical storage. The capacity on offer here allows users to store up to 260 10-minute videos in 4K UHD (3840×2160) format, says Samsung, putting in the shade many current "high-end" devices with 64GB of built-in storage (that can only hold 13 such videos).

Davis Cup- Italy Take 2-0 Lead Against India
The Indians looked the better team for most part of the opening set but the break in the ninth game proved to be detrimental. It's a learning experience for me. "I mean we all have a lot of respect and that's the very important thing out of all".

Smartphone manufacturers are looking to find an edge in an increasingly crowded market, promising sleek devices with better cameras and more battery life.

The 1TB chip also possesses exceptional speed, allowing users to transfer large amounts of multimedia content in significantly reduced time. While that actually doesn't sound that wonderful, Samsung points out that your typical 64GB smartphone can only store 13 such videos.

Finally, the South Korean giant says its new 1TB eUFS chip has random read speeds that are 38 percent faster than last year's 512GB chip. That's approximately twice as fast as the read speed of a typical 2.5-inch SATA SSD. That's 10 times faster than the speed of typical microSD cards, according to Samsung. Could this be a hint of what to expect from Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S10 smartphone? There's also 58,000 IOPS in random read speeds while 50,000 IOPS for 50,000 random writes that is up from 42K and 40K IOPS, respectively, from the 512GB eUFS 2.1 chips. Samsung is planning to expand the manufacturing facilities by mid-2019 to cope up with the anticipated demand from the third-party smartphone companies.
