'The View' host Joy Behar under fire for use of blackface

An old photo of Joy Behar dressed as a "beautiful African woman" on Halloween has resurfaced.

During the episode in May 2016, Behar had brought up a New York Times op-ed praising naturally curly hair - and then showed viewers a photo of herself with tan skin and short, dark, curly hair.

When Behar was 29 years old, she apparently dressed up as a "beautiful African woman" for Halloween, complete with makeup to make her skin darker.

Ingraham and Behar sit on opposite sides of the political spectrum, but Ingraham tweeted her support Thursday despite of their differences over politics.

A 2016 clip of The View began circulating Thursday after photos of two prominent Virginia democrats wearing blackface surfaced.

"I'm more flabbergasted by her willingness to pull this photo out and proudly show the world as if it's totally cool in the year 2016", Jezebel's Kara Brown wrote after the 2016 segment.

"Is that you, Joy?"

"I was 29", explained Behar.

"Are you my auntie, Joy?" The curly hair was all her own. And the No. 3 in line for the governorship, Attorney General Mark Herring, also has admitted he dressed in blackface at a college party. The Democratic leader later said he was not in the photo and hadn't seen it before.

Reacting to Raven-Symoné's clear change of tone, Behar asked, "Why are you upset with me now?"

In October, NBC host Megyn Kelly was canned from the network after comments concerning people dressing up as characters and celebrities of differing races on Halloween that critics decried as "racist".

Messages seeking comment were not returned from Behar's agent and the ABC program. "Joy Behar actually wore blackface, and admitted it, and showed a picture of it on TV, yet she still has her job".

The audience and fellow co-hosts were demonstrably taken aback at how drastically different Behar looked, some of them giggling.
