This is thought to be the first time that the Duchess of Cambridge has worn the earrings at a public event, although it certainly isn't the first time she has paid tribute to Princess Diana by wearing pieces from her jewellery collection. The Duchess had her hair up to help highlight the earrings.

During the conference, which is being hosted by broadcaster and presenter Kate Silverton, experts will discuss tackling mental health issues in schools.

The Duchess met with head teachers from a number of schools piloting The Royal Foundation's "Mentally Healthy Schools" programme which was launched by Kate herself in 2018.

Kate will also join a meeting to discuss mental health teacher training. Their royal entry was expected considering this is their third year in attendance.

Most notably of course, Kate's sapphire engagement ring, given to her by Prince William in 2011, was Princess Diana's.
