Beto O'Rourke confirms he is jumping into 2020 presidential race

The former Texas congressman confirmed Wednesday that he will enter the 2020 race for the Democratic presidential nomination, according to a Fox News television affiliate based in El Paso, Texas. "I do. I think I'd be good at it".

"I want to be in it. man, I'm just born to be in it", he is quoted as saying on the cover, which was shot by famed photographer Annie Liebovitz. "I don't see how we're able to meet any of the fundamental challenges that we have as a country without, in part, harnessing the power of the market".

"I'm really proud of what El Paso did and what El Paso represents", O'Rourke reportedly texted the station.

He added: "I want to be in it. This city is the best example of this country at its best".

O'Rourke planned to follow his announcement with a trip to Iowa, the state that will hold the first Democratic nominating contest in February 2020.

Beto O'Rourke is running for President in 2020

O'Rourke has the backing of a network of advocates who have independently been campaigning for him to run.

Trump has already confirmed he would stand again.

Of late, O'Rourke has tried to distance himself from some left-leaning candidates, such as Sanders and Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA, whom Trump has derided as "socialists".

The pair were involved in a bitter dispute during the last election, with Trump eventually winning the race.
