Philadelphia Eagles: Golden Tate to the Giants is a best-case scenerio

Although his short stint in Philadelphia was a disappointment, Tate has routinely been one of fantasy's most dependable wide receivers, and especially so in contrast to a typically much lower ADP.

He was one of the bigger names in terms of wide receivers on the free-agent market.

Veteran wide receiver Golden Tate is not going very far, as he will stay in the division and join the Giants on a surprising deal worth $37.5 million over four years.

A second-round pick in 2015, Golden had just 2.5 sacks and six quarterback hits last season in 11 games while returning from a torn ACL, but he racked up 12.5 sacks and 22 QB hits in 16 games in 2016.

While some may remain somber in the aftermath of Odell Beckham Jr.'s trade, there's something very likable and exciting about Tate in NY.

Prior to last season Tate had two consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons. They got Jabril Peppers, a New Jersey native from the Browns in the Beckham trade.

Locking up Tate until he's 36-years old flies directly in the face of that philosophy, and even if they were to release him after two years when his guaranteed money will be all but spent the move is no less questionable.

But no, the Giants are somehow trying to have their cake and eat it too, but will in all likelihood end up at the bottom of the standings come January, preparing to pick atop the NFL Draft once more. "I don't have time to go someone who's trying to rebuild".
