UEFA open investigation into Neymar after abusive Insta comments

UEFA have confirmed they are investigating Neymar's outburst on social media over the Video Assisted Referee (VAR), ESPN reports.

Brazil striker Neymar is facing sanctions from European football body UEFA over remarks he made following the elimination of Paris Saint-Germain from the UEFA Champions League.

After Presnel Kimpembe was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his area by VAR in injury-time, Marcus Rashford scored from the spot to send Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side through to the quarter-finals in dramatic fashion.

"They even put four people who don't understand football watching the incident in slow motion". How can it be a handball when it hits...

In his Instagram post in Portuguese, Neymar said, "It's a disgrace".

It is unknown what punishment would be considered for Neymar should he be found to have broken UEFA rules, but any enforced absence may not overly trouble the Parisian outfit, who now lead Ligue 1 by 17 points with 11 games to play in the 2018/19 domestic season.

UEFA have now revealed that Neymar is under investigtion for his comments.

UEFA says it "appointed an ethics and disciplinary Inspector to conduct an investigation" of the social media comments.

Neymar missed both legs of the tie after injuring his foot in January.
