76ers Roster & Lineup vs. Nets; Joel Embiid Injury Status, Updates

Ben Simmons was a postseason dud against Russell, his high school teammate. "They show us a lot of love", Embiid said.

In just 21 minutes of action, Embiid recorded an efficient 23 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-12 shooting, becoming just the second player in playoff history to record those numbers in 21 minutes or less. The sixth-seeded Nets turned Philly in the city of 20,000 boos - and that's just counting the ones echoing throughout the Wells Fargo Center - as they smoked a Sixers team that resembled one straight out of the early Process era. If the pattern holds it will be hard for all three players to do much this series. It was clear Joel Embiid's knee was still bothering him by the way he was settling for outside shots and how the Nets attacked him in space. He has only played 9 games since the all-star game and as always his injuries seem like his only undoing.

Brooklyn will have a golden opportunity to show the National Basketball Association that it is for real tonight for Game 2 back in Philadelphia (8 p.m. ET, YES, TNT).

D'Angelo Russell started slowly by missing 12 of his first 15 shots but led the Nets with 26 points. While his playoff play has been up and down in his career, you know he's a veteran and he ended the regular season on an absolute tear. He remains central to everything the Nets do and capable of finding his own shots.

It was good to see Harris finally get rolling.

"It's Philly! That's what's going to happen", said Simmons. I say, who could actually care? "We got great minds behind it", Russell said after the game, via ESPN.

"I was just trying to be me", Simmons said. "So I'm not going to celebrate this victory". He was on fire last game, and I have not seen enough consistency from him to bet heavily on him.

Here's more from all the games that took place on April 13.

Playoff Jimmy Butler is back.

Brett Brown described Joel Embiid as the 76ers' crown jewel, and the dynamic 7-footer illustrated the reason for such praise.

In the first half alone, the veteran two-way star guard scored 23 points, which was the most first-half points he scored during the 2018-19 season. Tonight they'll play again in Game 2 - can they do the unthinkable and repeat their performance to take a 2-0 series lead heading back to Brooklyn?

Nets: C Jared Dudley sat out with tightness in his right calf. While he isn't a fancy option for the game, he is cheap and is guaranteed to get minutes for his defense. Kerr also reminded the reporters that Durant picked up two technical fouls during this game and a 7 technical foul will automatically result in a one-game suspension for him.

Moneyline: The 76ers are still being spotted -350 odds while at home and with the status of their best player unknown.

Embiid was doubtful for the series opener but was able to suit up and play 24 minutes.
