Fox's New Schedule Is Here-Is Your Favorite Show on It?

That's true and it's a whole 'nother story.

The new-model Fox network is loading up on 10 new scripted series for the 2019-20 season, most of which will be held for midseason as the network adjusts to its heightened focus on live sports.

Empire will end its roller-coaster run on Fox after the upcoming sixth season, the network announced Monday, ahead of its Upfront presentation in the afternoon.

Collier's announcement comes as a Chicago judge is slated to decide if a special prosecutor is needed to investigate why the state prosecutor's office dropped charges accusing Smollett of staging the attack.

Collier said the network aimed to turn the show's final season "into a large television event", with "Empire" moving to a new night and time - airing at 9 p.m. on Tuesdays following Fox's medical drama "The Resident". Fox noted at the time that Smollett's option had been extended, so it was technically possible for him to appear on the show sometime in the future.

Fox actually axed a number of its current series, including the Empire spinoff Star. "You allow fans to lean in and have the ending they deserve".

Season 6 of "Empire" will be Lyon family's last chance to roar.

Empire, brought to television by executive producer Lee Daniels, and starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, had initially been a hit when it premiered in January 2015, with an average 12.97 million viewers at the end of its first season, according to Nielsen.

Speaking to reporters this morning on a call to discuss the 2019-20 roster, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said the network "is not only open for business, but stronger than ever", before adding that the fall schedule reflects Fox's desire to "partner with a wide array of studios" in the wake of the sale of its own in-house facility to Disney.

Once a guaranteed ratings blockbuster for Fox, Empire's most recent season was dogged by low viewing figures, as well as Smollett's controversy.

"By mutual agreement, the studio has negotiated an extension to Jussie Smollett's option for season six, but at this time there are no plans for the character of Jamal to return to 'Empire, '" the studio said in a statement that gave no reason for the decision.
